German fighter pilots still alive?
Hello! Does anyone know if there are any german WWII fighter pilots still alive, except Hugo Broch?
Thanks in advance. |
Re: German fighter pilots still alive?
Assuming they were 20 in 1945, they would be at least 100 in 2026. What is your reason for asking?

Re: German fighter pilots still alive?
Just out of general interest. I simply want to know if there are any fighter pilots from that era still alive. I know myself that it's probably not the case, but perhaps there is one left.

Re: German fighter pilots still alive?
According to statistics found on the Net, about one man on 8000 reaches the age of 100 in Europe.
Given the number of pilots in the Luftwaffe in 1945, statistically a very small number may be there, but in all probability they should be among the youngest ones, maybe not having finished their training or just flying in units in the last months of the war. But I missed that you were asking for fighter pilots. There is at least one, Hugo Broch. Statistically, to have a second one will require to have around 16000 fighters pilots surviving WWII, even including POWs, I am not sure that number could be reached. By the way, does the association of former Luftwaffe pilots (its name evades me at the moment) still exist ? If yes, they should have a list of members... |

Gemeinschaft der Jagdflieger? Is it now Gemeinschaft deutscher Militärflieger e.V?
