This is a well-known Ki.21 "Sally" from the 3rd. Dokuritsu Hikotai ( Independent, 3 red bands); on 24 May 1945 9 "Sallys" carrying troops flew a one-way mission to Yontan airfield Okinawa, US-held then. 8 were shot down, 546 got down releasing her troops.

POST 4.
This is C-54E 44-9045-- Air Transport Command (with their insignia), flew Japanese delegation from Ie Shima to Nichol's Field Manila on 19 Aug.45 to meet MacArthur's staff. Into storage 13 July 1970 at MASDC ( Military Aircraft Storage & Disposition Centre) before scrapping. She had 0-49045 on tail and "US AIR FORCE" on nose. She was photographed in England 1956. Nick |
