Focke-Achgelis Fa 330 - the successful pilot ?

Good evening Gentlemen,

the Focke-Achgelis Fa 330 of submarine U-177 was used to spot the Greek steamer Efthalia Mari on 6Aug1943. This sighting with the subsequent sinking was the first military success of a helicopter. Who was the pilot on that occasion ?

Cheers,

Michael

Not a helicopter but rotor kite

Fw. Kurt Wieden but please don't bother asking about the next most successful pilot!

Yes, the most successful pilot in a glider. :D
I think he has some kind of fetish about it.

There were successful military glider pilots. Three received the Knight's Cross.
