You will be attacked by two Spitfire on the square of Neustadt. Is there any further information designs or also to Uffz. Kudzik and other German pilots from JG 301 Uffz ? K. H. Engert Supplement JG 1 to JG 301, Ta 152 Uffz ? Wolf Wagner JG 301, Ta 152 Uffz ? Fritz Hennies JG 301, Ta 152 19.04.1945 Neustadt-Glewe Cheers Frank |

Willie Reschke makes no mention of any of them in his book or the appendixes therein. However, he has a gap in his data right around that time.

Where did you find your information about the events of 19 April? (Axel Urbanke's Ta 152 article in Luftwaffe im Focus Nr. 29 goes straight from 18 April to 20 April) |

Hello
The cemetery records of Neustadt-Glewe contain the data for Uffz. Hubert Kuznik (Kudznik or Kutznik). He was born on November 2, 1919, and died on April 19, 1945, in Neustadt-Glewe, where he is also buried. According to a report by Fritz Hennis (January 10, 1946), submitted during a search in the Jägerblatt, Kuznik and Wagner were supposed to ferry two Ta 152s from Rechlin to Neustadt-Glewe and were attacked by two Spitfires during landing. Kuznik overran his aircraft while defending himself and crashed. One Spitfire was shot down by the airfield's flak, and the pilot was killed. This Spitfire was flown by Flight Lieutenant H.A. Cowan, who was buried in the Neustadt-Glewe cemetery on April 22, 1945. Norman Franks' "Fighter Command Losses" states that Cowan was shot down by the anti-aircraft guns of Parchim airfield; this is incorrect. Willi Reschke mentions this story in connection with Sergeant Blum and with an unspecified date. The names of the German airmen come from Henning. According to him, these men belonged to the Ta152 test command in Rechlin and, after its disbandment on April 1, 1945, were transferred to JG301 in Neustadt-Glewe. Rene |

No. 402 Squadron's ORB says they were over Parchim but with only 20 km between there and Neustadt, a navigation error cannot be excluded. |

Nick
The distance between the Parchim and Neustadt-Glewe airfields is only 12 km. Perhaps he saw the two Ta 152s and then followed them. The fact is, Cowan was shot down by flak fire at Neustadt airfield. Why does Urbanke in LiF no. 29 change from April 18th to April 20th, 1945? Because there's no mention of April 19th, 1945 anywhere. He writes about a Platzschutzeinsatz in Hagenow at the end of April 1945, during which Hartmut (Hugobert) Langelotz was killed. Reschke doesn't give a date for this. The fact is, Langelotz fell on April 19th. Lothar Ettmüller (according to Reschke, April 16th), Bernhard Ikier, Kurt Zimmermann, and Hans Viehbeck also fell on April 19th. Rene |
Re: Uffz. Hubert Kudznik Ta 152, JG 301
There is a gap in Luftwaffe records in April 1945 when the operations staff was moving from Wildpark-Werder to Berchtesgaden. For several days there was nowhere for subordinate commands to send their reports and some Bundesarchiv files have handwritten notes about this.

Hallo zusammen,

Original loss report by MREU does not specifically mention Parchim, and there is a later addition naming it. Parchim appears in another document. Also, the two aircraft encountered were identified as Me 262s.
