Mosquito claim 5-6 January 1945

Hi guys

I have a note that Flt Lt F.A. Campbell RNZAF a Mosquito pilot with 488 (NZ) Squadron, claimed a Bf110 over 'Holland' on the night of 5-6 January 1945. Has anyone additional details? Can his claim be substantiated? Was there a Bf110 loss in the area the claim was made?

Cheers
Brian

Hi brian
where did you get details of this claim ? Frank Olynyk's "Victory list No.7 RAF 400 series squadrons" does not mention this at all, either by date, unit or pilot. Also John Foremans "Fighter Command War Diaries Vol5" makes no mention either.

Hi,

Martin Bowman in his Mosquito book in the Crowood series has the Mossie as a Mk.XXX . F/L. F. A. Campbell with W/O. G.H. Lawrence.

Hi Brian

I have discovered the source for your note on this combat :- it is mentioned in "Mosquito" by Bowyer & Sharp and mentions that the combat lasted for 30 minutes. Strange that it gets no mention in the other books i consulted !
lets keep digging
