I/ Kampfgeschwader 54, info needed
 

Hello everyone,
as some of you may have already seen in the ‘review’ section, I am looking for specific information on I/Kampfgschwader 54, in particular if the crews that took part in the raid on Bari on 2 December 1943 are known. (Not only missing crews).

I would like to know if a pilot named Rolf Wenk, who was shot down in France in June 1944 while serving in another wing, is mentioned.

I know that Radke's volumes and Taghon's new book ‘La Kampfgeschwader 54’ exist, but I would only like to purchase them if they contain this information.

Wenk, Rolf Lt 6/6/1923 2/KG-54 Ju 88A-4 Werk # 301445 "B3 + KA" (lost 6/26/44) Bomber Operational Clasp MIA after failing to return from a mine laying operation over the Seine Bay, 26 June, 1944, circumstances unknown. Remaining crew (MIA): Uffz Günther Baxmann, Obs; Fw Willy Rosemann, R/O and Uffz Otto Schmid, Gnr (D.Drury).

Anything related to Bari raid? I hope it would be some sources concerning I./KG 54 crews involved on Bari raid on Dez.2nd 1943...

The problem you will have is while RAF Operations Record Books are available online, most German KTBs (which would give details of crews and aircraft) no longer exist. If they did exist for I./KG 54, I am sure that Peter Taghon or Nick Beale would have had access to them

Wenk's name is neither mentioned in Radtke's book nor in the Volumes of Peter Taghon for the Bari raid. I also have no further info on this man for this date.
Best change is his Flugbuch, if it survived.

Rolf Alwin Wilhelm Georg Wenk was born 6 Jun 23 in Eisenach and his EKM was for 13./KG 1. Aircraft details are correct and they were reported missing mine-laying in 15W/1065
