Uffz Jakob Held of III./JG 11
 

Hi Guys

I am just working on JG 11 and was struck by the similarity between two pilots:-

On 30th September 1943 Uffz Jakob Held claims a Mosquito at 1419 hrs flying for 7./JG 11. On 10th February 1944 still an Uffz he was injured whilst force-landing his Fw190 still with 7./JG 11, and I hear no more about him, perhaps his injuries ended his career?

However there was an Uffz Held claiming with 9./JG 11:-

19th July 1944 Il-2 1250 hrs.
26th July 1944 Jak-9 1101 hrs
4th August 1944 Jak-9 1137 hrs
17th August 1944 Il-2 0700 hrs

After this I hear nothing more about him, no loss.

I am speculating that this is Jakob Held, the rank, Gruppe and surname are the same, I speculate he returned to combat, but with 9./JG 11.

What do you think?

Jakob Held had minor injuries on 10.2.44 and survived the war
