Twin engined aircraft 13/04/1944 emergency landing at Aardrijke
Hi,
The KTB of Generalkommando LXXXIX.A.K. (NARA reel T314-1629) mentions for 13/04/1944 16.25 (page 672) the emergency landing of an enemy twin-engined aircraft at Aardrijke (this is probably Aartrijke, Belgium). Any idea which aircraft this could be ? Many thanks and best regards Luc |
Re: Twin engined aircraft 13/04/1944 emergency landing at Aardrijke
May I kindly add that document speaks of a 'bomber'. Somehow report puts the incident on 14 April 1944 elsewhere with note '32743 g' which I think is a reference to or coordinate for neighboring town of Zedelgem.
See https://catalog.archives.gov/id/3182...ect-thumb--962 At first glance no known Mosquito, A-20 or B-26 loss in area when it comes to first types to think of. Leendert |

Hi Leendert,
Thanks for your reply. https://catalog.archives.gov/id/3182...ect-thumb--962 doesn't mention that it was an enemy bomber, so a Luftwaffe plane is also possible. Best regards Luc |
Re: Twin engined aircraft 13/04/1944 emergency landing at Aardrijke
Indeed, no reference on p. 962 to kind of a/c or if enemy.
However, original (?) text in KTB on p. 672 has: "13.4.44. 16.25 Notlandung eines fdl. 2-mot. Bombers bei Aardrijke". Unfortunately no further details provided in this Report. Leendert |
