Staffelkapitän V./LG 1

Morning fellow enthusiasts

I was wondering if any specialist could please supply me with the Staffelkapitän of the short lived V./LG 1 which I believe became I./NJG 3 in October 1940.
Also grateful for a V./LG 1 losses list.

Kind Regards

Johannes

You can find all of the losses of V.(Z).LG 1 in this book: https://wingleader.co.uk/books/zerstorer/

And also in this series of books by the same publisher: https://wingleader.co.uk/books/battl...hive-volume-2/

And of course there is Ludwig von Eimannsberger’s history of said unit

Ludwid von Eimannsberger's book on V.(Z)/LG 1 will still be available from Schiffer, I believe.
The Gruppenkommandeur was his uncle.

Hi Guys

Many thanks for everybody's help. Purpose was to identify the claimant for a Morane on 03.04.1940 1222 uhr 6000 metres usually quoted as Oblt "Aussen" I really didn't think it was this and as an Oblt speculated he was the Staffelkapitän of 15./LG 1. I am 99% sure this is Walter Claußen(third claim), makes sense and explains why I couldn't find him with I./NJG 3 because he was killed on 22.04.1940.

Thanks again

Kind Regards

Johannes

Von Eimannsberger makes no mention of this claim but there is an account of his death in an accident. He was replaced on 30 Apr 40 as St Kap by Oblt Emil Schnoor

Hi Johannes

Could be a co-incidence but Peter Taghon in his LG 1 Vol 1 book lists a claim on
2 April 1940 by Oblt Werner Methfessel at 12.22H in the Lunéville area.

Is that on your list as well? Strange in such a case as Taghon has no claim listed for April 3rd,
but the time of the claims for both days are exactly the same, to the minute...

Cheers
Stig

Methfessel was St Kap 14 Staffel if that helps

Re: Staffelkapitän V./LG 1

Hi Guys

No claim on the mikrofilms for 02.04.1940, but this is the A.S.M listings, however it seems to include all claims for certain units at certain times LG 1 being one of those units, moreover I believe all of V./LG 1's claims are listed from the French campaign until end of September 1940.

None of Methfessel's clams are listed on the mikrofilms, so we cannot be sure how accurate they are, or if accurate if they were confirmed, so could be the 02.04.1940 claim is in fact inaccurate and a confusion of that of 03.04.1940 ! Lot's of claims by gunners as well.

Kind Regards

Johannes
