2 Lt. George Lenz Jr.
 

Could anyone help me find out where Lt. Lenz was initially buried? He was lost on December 29, 1944 as a bombardier (serial number 0-2056858) with the 720th Bomb Squadron, 450th Bomb Group. The mission was to Brenner Pass area and the B-24 was downed by flak. I have the MACR, have found a lot of his life history from local sources (he was from my hometown) and even from an ex-crewmate but I cannot find his initial burial site. No relatives are around and I do not know his wife's name after she re-married and whether his son, George III, would have taken that name as well. The Germans recovered his dog tags, so his body was found. I also believe at one point he was returned to the States but have not pinned that down, either. He has a headstone in the Little Rock National Cemetery, Arkansas. I am awaiting his IDPF from St. Louis, but if my past record with them is an indication, his file was probably lost in the fire. And from an article in an Arkansas newspaper of 6 July 1949: George Lenz jr., rites Thursday. Lt. George Lenz jr. Bombardier with the 15th air Force based in Italy who killed in a raid Over the Bremier pass on dec. 29, 1944 will be buried in the National cemetery at Little Rock Thursday at 2 30 In. Funeral services will be held in Little Rock follow ing the return of the body from overseas.

Thank you both for the links, they did add a few details to the Lenz story. I will attempt to translate the one document from KSU-2650 which mentions him specifically to see if it sheds any further light on his loss. Thanks very much again.
