Loss of Halifax III LL578 MP-H Bar 12./13. August 1944

Hello,
cane anyone provide exact details of the craschplace of this Halifax? W.R. Chorley says 2 km NE of Hamm/Germany. But there are more then four different cities/villages with that name. The crew rest in France Choloy War Cemetery, that is a long distance from any of the places namend Hamm. Is the lostcard on hand?
Thanks a lot!!
h.

Links below provide crash places of Halifaxes on 13 Aug 1944 according German reports.
Perhaps with comparison with info in Chorley's books and/or a look on the map what town is nr (a) Hamm, you may narrow down your search. Since the target was Rüsselsheim nr Wiesbaden, we can exclude the largest Hamm, east of the Ruhr area?

See https://catalog.archives.gov/id/91177051 https://catalog.archives.gov/id/91177053

Apparently no Halifax losses on 12 Aug 1944.

Hello hans,

in the Bomber Command Loss Card for the Halifax LL578 are no entries of the loss location and the German KE-casualty number.

Leo

For 12 Aug 1944 see https://catalog.archives.gov/id/91177047 and https://catalog.archives.gov/id/91177049

No Halifax or Lancaster mentioned, but I have no idea if lists are complete.
