Was it usual for Messerschmitt to put "W.NR." in front of the werknummer?

two informations about the Bf 109 F-2 WNr. 8935:

Jagdfliegerverbände Vol. 9/I
13 Apr 1942 3./JG 54 Fw Heinrich Bruhn Bruchlandung Riga-Spilve, 15%

GQM return 5 Feb 1943 item 6:
2 Feb 1943 Nachtjagdschule 1 Flugplatz Schleißheim, bei Landung ausgebrochen und startende Fw 58 gerammt, 30%.
