Information concerning the loss of Obergefreiter Karl Herbst - killed 7-8 June 1944

Hi,

Can anyone provide additional information to the loss of Obergefreiter Karl Herbst who was a bordfunker in a nightfighter squadron.

He was killed on a night operational mission in the East on the 7-8th June 1944.

He was killed with his pilot Uffz. Gerhard Hannemann.

With thanks

Rick

Ogfr. Herbst was in Bf-110G-4, Wnr. 140027, C9 + DK, of 2./NJG 5 from St. Dizier that (presumably) was shot down, not in the East, but in the Normandy invasion area.
Next to also mentioned pilot Hannemann, Bordschutze Uffz. Kurt Gronwald was also killed.

Hi Leendert,

Again . . . thank you very much for your additional information - very weird that sterbebild explains he was lost in the East?

Have a good day.

Rick
