Hello Chris
Hope all is fine for you. I just came back from Italy ; I answer You. The Blue Section took off from Westhampnett at 1235, Blue 1 S/C Debec (GW° R/ BL329) Blue 2 S/C Boudier (GW+P/ BL343) for a patrol Beach Head to Selsey Bill. "Blue section had just crossed the coast near Bognor when they saw 12 ME 109E' approaching Littlehampton, where they drop two bombs, one each side of the river Arun, on the beach. Blue section were at 200 Ft and our A/C at once engaged. As a result Blue 1 destroyed 1 ME 109E and Blue 2 damaged a ME 109E, beside attacking another. Weather fine, slight haze over the sea, visibility 12 miles." Blue Section landed at 1255. My best regards Many |

Thanks Many and nice to hear from you. This is what is written in the F540 and is not a full combat report I am afraid

Re: Combat Reports for 340 Sqn 8 May 1942
Bonjour Chris.
Yes, It is from F 540, I found no combat report for that day in any of the documentation I possess regarding the 340 (Île-de-France) squadron, nor at Kew. However, I did find that same text—typed in French—in a copy of a page from Boudier’s logbook. Sorry. My best regards. Many. |
