Tirpitz Ar 196

Gentlemen,
A bit of a long shot but I'll try anyway.
Would anybody have an idea as to the regular crew for T3+BL on board Tirpitz - assuming of course that any of its embarked aircraft had what could be termed a 'usual' crew.

TIA

Dave

Hi Dave.

I only a few Ar 196 crew names from Tirpitz. The well-known Rosenbaum (pilot) and Fabricius (observer/gunner) from summer and fall 1943 and Leutnant zur See Baehr and Obfw. Osterberg who flew T3+LK in late July/early August 1944. Don't know the crew member of T3+BL even if I have a profile of that in my recently released book on the Tirpitz.

From at least 1944 it seems most if not all of Tirpitz' Arados carried Staffel letter" K" as they came from 2./B.Fl.GR. 196 commanded by Hptm Gottschalk. A diary from the period June-July 1944 exists but I don't have it at hand right now, just a few details quoted above.

Regards,

Kjetil

Hi Jerry & Kjetil,

Many thanks for the replies gentlemen - guess I'll just have to mark the crew down as 'unidentified' for now' .

Kind regards

Dave

T3+BL belonged to 1/196 in 1943-44. It was flown by different crews. This unit did service Tirpitz with crews and aircrafts. It did not recive the same crews and aircrafts. They were relived at intervals! Flown to and from Aalborg-See/DK. And later from april 1944 from Horten/Norway!
