That plane went down at Buskirchen with 2nd Lt. Duane F. Lund at the controls. The aircraft took a direct flak hit and lost most of its left wing, but Lt. Lund was able to bail out before it hit the ground.

Michel,

what is your interest in this case?

Here what I found:
Lt Duane Lund was shot down and two other aircraft were heavily damaged. Pilots reported that Lund bailed out successfully near Euskirchen and was seen landing in his chute on the ground. He became POW and was liberated by American troops in April 1945.

I was flying Relic Yellow Flight Leader on 18 November 1944 on an armed Recce North of Euskirchen at approx. 10:00 hours. I was flying at approx. 8,000 feet 8 or 10 miles N.W. of Euskirchen when I observed Relic Yellow 3, flown by Lt LUND, get a direct from heavy FLAK and lose most of his left wing. The ship immediately went into a violent spin and following it down I observed a parachute open some distance from it at between 3,000 and 4,000 feet. The parachute landed about .5 miles NW of Euskirchen and upon buzzing it a few seconds later I observed the pilot still lying in the harness.

Hi Michel

I've got a Lund's picture if you wish. I'm also in touch with USAAF retired Colonel who knows whole Lund's story. I'll try to find some more info in my "draw".

Never too late ;)
I'll post his picture to you plus info I've got. There is a book "The war we fought" about 366.FG. Lund should be mentioned perhaps.
