05.02.42 Mto
Hi,
on the 5th February 1942 Lt.Hans-J. von Moeller from 6/JG53 claimed one Fokker T shot down over MTO. I wonder if it could be Wellington of OADU? Perhaps somebody could supply some more details of this incident? Regards Robert |

Hi Robert
I think you'll find this was the clandestine He115 shot up in harbour at Malta. Cheers Brian |
Re: 05.02.42 Mto
Hi Brian,
thanx. To which unit belonged this captured seaplane? Robert |
Re: 05.02.42 Mto
This aircraft was initially captured by Norwegian forces in Norway (ex. 1./Kü.Fl.Gr.106). Flown to UK in June 1940 and taken over by RAF later this year. Converted by BOAC Hythe for special operations on behalf of SIS. Flown to Malta late October 1941 by Norwegian pilot Haakon Offerdal. Last recorded flight 17.12.1941. Moored off Kalafrana seaplane station as SIS could not find any work for the aircraft. Discovered by two strafing Bf 109s on 05.02.1941 and shot up on the water.
