Tracing crashed Me109G6 in Normandy 1944
Can anyone help?!
I am trying to trace a Me109 G6 that was believed shot down during the Battle of Normandy in June 1944. The exact date/time is not known nor is the fate of the pilot who is believed to have baled out. The only real bit of info I have is that it crashed at Bellou en Houlme, near Orne, France. If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated!! |

Do you happen to have the name of the pilot?

Tim:
This will be difficult as there are over 250 known 109G losses during June in the Invasion area, dozens of them in the Orne area. Often, the Germans listed slightly different areas or villages for a crash than what someone local might have done. |

AFAIK large part of the LW Normandy losses were recorded quite late (autumn 1944) because the units simply had no time for paperworks and/or the records were lost during evacuation.

See my data base of the losses of Luftwaffe. Nothing when June there are 589 Bf 109 G6 in losses. There are various search criteria in this base. http://www.absa39-45.asso.fr/formula...ase_pertes.PHP Dan |
