Pineapple Air Force

I am thinking of buying this book, but apart from sellers blurb I haven't been able to locate opinions. Can anyone who has this text give me opinions? I am looking for a book that has lots of anecdotes from the combattants but also decent appendices, victory tallies etc.

As I mentioned, I have the original 1990 ed of Lambert's book, and I highly recommend it - if you're looking for anecdotes, you won't be disappointed. The book tells of the 7AF's campaign across the Pacific, starting with Pearl Harbor, and is full of first-person accounts. The color section includes a page of unit insignia, two pages with 8 aircraft profiles, and five pages with 27 color photos of nose art, personnel, in-flight shots, gun camera shots, and wrecked Japanese aircraft. It also includes appendices on unit deployments, losses, claims, and aces. I can't speak for the newer Schiffer edition, which I haven't seen, but it would be worth checking to see if it updates the earlier volume.
