Sinking of H.J.Kyvig on 26. or 28.10.1940

Hello friends,

on 26.10.1940 the norwegian ship H.J.Kyving (763 BRT) is sunk by british aircraft off Sunnfjord.

KTB Skl for 26.10.1940:
Quote:

-26.10.: nachm. norw. Dampfer nördl. Sognefjord durch 3 engl. Flgz. durch Bomben versenkt, alle Angreifer durch dt. Jäger abgeschossen,

(26.10. afternoon, norw. steamer sunk north Sognefjord by 3 british aircraft by bomb, all attackers shot down by fighters)

Can someone give me details of this action?

Thank you

Darius

Hi Darius.

The ship was sunk by three Beauforts of 42 Squadron, flying from Wick. During the battle, two of them, L9813 and N1159, were shot down by Bf-109s of 4./JG 77 (at 18:30?). From your post I learned that the British attacked with bombs, not torpedoes. I myself would like to know how many ships were in the convoy.
