The Bf 109 G-6/Trop "KT+WP" of photo
http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=330078311472 wasn't an ANR one (which never had early G-6s - let alone tropical ones - in its ranks) and the photo wasn't taken in Aviano. This brand-new aircraft was probably to be delivered to a Jagdgeschwader in Southern Italy (although it had a yellow fuselage band just behind the Balkenkreuz) and was photographed in the late Spring/early Summer of 1943 in Forlì airfield, whose buildings were quite characteristic. The photograph also appeared on the cover of Nr. 1-1998 of the Italian IPMS quarterly magazine. Hope this helps, just to lessen the chances that someone could spend too much money for such item... |
