Where is Flugplatz Oberschlesiem?

Hello,

I'm trying to identify a photo that shows Bf110s of 1./ZG76 with a hanger in the background with the name "Flugplatz Oberschlesie...(Oberschlesiem?)." Can anyone tell me where that is, and when Bf110s of 1./ZG76 would have been photographed there? This was very likely sometime during the first half of 1940.

Thanks,

Orthography and geography problem:
If it were Oberschlesie... it could be the region of Oberschlesien (it's capital is/ was Breslau, now Wroclaw, Poland) and that could be Flugplatz Olmütz and/ or Märzdorf in Oberschlesien (upper Silesia). Acc to Michael Holm http://www.ww2.dk/air/zerstorer/zg76.htm I./ZG 76 was there from 5-10/1939.
Also acc. to Holm no parts of ZG 76 were ever based in Oberschleißheim at any time.
During 1940 I./ZG 76 had their bases in
Jever (eastern Frisia, NW Germany)
Westerland/ Sylt (island, North sea in Schleswig-Holstein at the border to DK)
Aalborg West, DK
Stavanger-Sola, N
Trondheim-Vaernes, N
Stavanger-Vorus, N

Maybe you could post the writing?

Breslau is capital of Niederschlesien and capital of Oberschlesien is Kattowitz.

I have to admit, mistaking upper and lower Silesia. Thanks for correction!
But: i also found out Kattowitz was only the administrative capital of reunited german upper Silesia from 1941 - 45. Until 1941 Kattowitz was capital of the autonomous polish region of upper Silesia. Until 1938 the capital of the german region upper Silesia was Oppeln.

Re: Where is Flugplatz Oberschlesiem?

Thanks for everyone for your comments. I've looked again closely at this and I think that it must be "Flugplatz Oberschlesien," although I don't know exactly what town "Airfield Upper Silesia" would refer to. You would think an airfield would be named for a specific place, rather than a region. This must have been a Polish Campaign location for the unit, or one in the couple of months afterwards, anyway, probably late 1939, rather than the 1940 I earlier thought. I've consulted the Flugbuch of Helmut Lent, who was a pilot in 1 Staffel of ZG76 during the period, but find no obvious answer to this.

Any further ideas?

Perhaps the owner did not remember the name of the airfield but the fact it was on Upper Silesia.

Franek,

The name does not come from the memory of the photo source, but it appears in large block letters above a hanger in the background of the photo. It is mean't to be a sign identifying the airfield to low flying airplanes.

Thanks for your comments,
