KG2 Do217E detachment to Sola. What date?

Some years ago I did ask a question on one of the many discussion forums on the web. Several computers later I cannot for the life of me find the downloaded answer nor the original query.
So I'll have to ask again:
From what I remember, I thought perhaps in '42, quite a few Dornier Do217E's from KG2 flew from Soesterberg, through Sola, Norway, then on to bomb a certain target in the north of the UK.
Does anyone know what date this was and which Staffeln took part in the attack?

Regards,
Kyrre

Hi Kyrre,

You submitted the following query on the old TOCH forum on Feb 27, 2002:

Hi people!

Having bought the Dornier 217 from Revell I was wondering if there ever were 217E-4's or -5's operating out of Norway at any point? I would have thought that Stavanger would be a nice base for shipping ops, but I can't seem to find any indication of these machines being used in Norway at all! It would be very nice if someone could come up with a unit, so I could take it from there. Just a confirmation, one way or another, would be sufficient.

Hi Kyrre

Here is you fine 217

On 20.04.43 Kampfgrupe I./KG 2 and II./KG 2 were moved to airfield Sola with 30 Do 217 to attack Britain from Norway. On the night 21./22.04.43 18 aircraft in 2 waves attacked Aberdeen,Scotland. No loss then for these units. On 25.04.43 both unis returned back to airfields Eindhoven and Soesterberg.

On the return trip near Lindesnes A Do 217 crashed into the sea due to collision with an unknown Luftwaffe fighter plane. I have been looking a while but now I have find out that it was a Fw 190 from Jagdgruppe I./JG 11 (former III./JG 1) from airfield Lister.

From my Luftwaffe Loss list Nordic:

Dornier Do 217 E-4 - 4./II./KG 2 - WNr. 0004 427 - U5+BR
Accident - Collision - Crashed/s off Lindesnes, Agder area
Airfield Sola - Heimatflug - Überfuhrung - 100%
Pilot Fw Günther Stahr (+) with 3 crewmember (+)(+)(w,+)

Focke-Wulf Fw 190 A-4 - 1./I./JG 11 - WNr. 0147 080 - Ws.1
Accident - Collision - Crashed/s 10km S Farsund, Agder area
Airfield Lister - Feindflug - Begleitschutz - 100%
Pilot Uffz. Helmut Glagla (+)

Many thanks Leon. For some reason I couldn't find this thread, though I thought I had black belt in Googling... :)

Case solved.
