Fighter pilot and the Ehrenpokal??

Hello!

Uffz. Fritz Winkler was a fighter pilot, who got the Ehrenpokal on May 8. 1944.
He died on August 17. 1944 having been promoted to Feldwebel.

Does anyone of You know anything about this pilot and the circumstances about his carreer and death.
I could not find him in the "Gräbersuche" list or in any of my books or the internet.

Thank You in advance!
Christian

Sorry to put this thread out of the dark again, but i found out a little more:

Fritz Winkler died in Dammartin-en-Goele/Seine-et-Marne and is now burried in an unknown grave at La Campe/Normandy

Could these informations help to solve the mystery of this Feldwebel?

Thanks in advance
Christian

Although many Luftwaffe aircrew were awarded the Ehrenpokal on paper, I can't think of any who actually received the award after 1943.

Yes maybe he just got the paper, but he is mentioned in the book on Ehrenpokal winners.

We all got the paper after 1943, never saw a real "Ehrenpokal"-
besides in museum-

Hello and good evening!

RT...unfotunately I do not know what unit he was in.

Herr Spoden. Thank you for this information. I did not know that!

I wonder if it is a much too long shot to post his picture??? Maybe a needle in the haystack, but still one might know him.

Best wishes

Christian,

I could find no victory claims for Fritz Winkler. It seems unlikely to me that a fighter pilot without any victories would receive the Ehrenpokal.
