Air to Air rocket Fighter Victories
Ok, How many cases of fighters being shot down by another fighter using rockets in WWII can we come up with?
Off the top of my head, I can think of Soviet I-16 using rockets to shoot down Bf-109s, Typhoons using rockets to shoot down enemy fighters and P-47s also using rockets to shoot down enemy fighters. Obviously, these cases are the exception to the rule but they did happen. |
Re: Air to Air rocket Fighter Victories
One example: Lt. Melvyn R. Paisley (366 FG) on January 1st,1945 fired four ground to air rockets against a low flying FW-190 and blew it up.

Chernikov (http://surfcity.kund.dalnet.se/soviet_chernikov.htm) – reputedly Leutnant Heinrich Graf von Einsiedel of III/JG 3 (35 victories). V. Minayev (http://surfcity.kund.dalnet.se/soviet_minayev.htm) A. Povitskiy (http://surfcity.kund.dalnet.se/soviet_povitskiy.htm) I. D. Re: Air to Air rocket Fighter Victories
Off topic but...Judge Wolf of the 318th FG claimed a victory over Zero in 1945. I have never encountered a combat where Typhoons used rockets to bring down opponents. When did this happen?
