Blenheim loss at Breyell NRW on May 10 or 11 1940
Hi everybody,
I am trying to find out which Blenheim crashed at Breyell in Nordrhein Westfalen on May 10 or 11, 1940 and who was responsible. Both were probably shot down by a Flak unit in the area. These are the possible planes: 1. Blenheim IV nr L1405, 18 Sqn. Pilot P/O G.F. Harding. MIA from reconnaissance near Venlo on May 10 1940. 2. Blenheim IV nr L9255, 18 Sqn. Pilot Sgt E.B. Le Voi. MIA from reconnaissance over the Albert canal on May 11, 1940. Thanks for all the help. Best regards, Hub Groeneveld, Venlo, NL |
Re: Blenheim loss at Breyell NRW on May 10 or 11 1940
Hey Hub!
My friend found some answers perhaps for you: 1) L-1405, 18th Sqdrn MK1 FTR, shot down near German border; P/O G.Harding (pilot) & Sgt K.Shroshbree (Obs.) K.I.A. and burried in Reichswald Forest War Cemetery. Lac Roland-Townsend-Coles (WOp/Ag) became POW, a regular escaper, he was reported shot by Gestapo, July 15,1944 and is commomeradet on Runnymede Memorial. 2) Mai 11,1940: L-9255, 18th Sqdrn MK IV FTR, shot down by Me 109, Sgt E.Le Voi (pilot) and Sgt J.Sands (Obs), both wounded and captured, LAC R.Davies (W.op/Ag) K.I.A. and burried in Reichswald Forest War Cemetery. Hope this can help you, grts from my friend Frans Fredcompa |
