Luftwaffe Loss 12/13-10-1943
Is there a loss which would tie with a claim by F/O Boyle with P/O Friesner, in a Mosquito of 151 Sqd ,who claimed a Me 410 off Cromer. One book indicates a Ju 88 of III/KG 6 was lost, while another shows that two crewmen (of III/KG 6) baled out and were reported missing while their aircraft returned to base. Any information appreciated,

Re: Luftwaffe Loss 12/13-10-1943
On the evening of 12.10.43, 4 Ju 88 S-1s of III/KG 6 took-off for a nuisance attack on London. 2 a/c attacked the target, at 21:18 and 21:30, without observing results. The 2 others broke off the attack due to engine failures. One bomber had aerial combat with night fighters in the target area. The hits on the a/c made the pilot decide to tell his crew to bail out. 2 parachutes were observed. These 2 crewmen, Uffz. Kurt Emmert (B) and Ogfr. Kurt Abramowski (Bf), have been missing ever since. The pilot then ascertained that the a/c was still flyable, and flew it home. (The crew was with 7/KG 6, but no W.Nr. given, nor is the pilot named) Reference: "Wir flogen gen Westen" by Jan Horn.

One strange thing is that the "accident" do not appear in gen. losses report..It's pretty complete at that date..
