Shield Insignia of KG55

Hi,

I'm aware of the standard references on the insignia of KG55, used on its He111s from early in the war. The Ketley/Rolfe "Luftwaffe Emblems" does not carry a version of the KG 55 insignia that appears to have a yellow background shield, instead of white. Moreover, on some photos with the "yellow?" background, the wing on the griffon appears to be a light color, like white, instead of the black illustrated in the standard references. Does anyone know if the shield background for KG 55 in 1940 varied with the Gruppe or Staffel? I'm trying to determine the Gruppe and possibly the staffel of a He111, apparently down in the west, for which I can't see the a/c codes, but only the insignia on the forward fuselage, which appears as described above.

Thanx

I don't know if anyone responded to this question?

I had the shield of the KG 55 Greif (actually it's the insignia of the city of Gießen) hanging in my bedroom (1942) the background was yellow
