“The Reich Intruders” book, loss of a 418 Sqn Mosse and Ar96 ?

Hello

In Martin W. Bowman’s book “The Reich Intruders” page 169-170 there is a story by Oberfaehnrich Karl-Heinz Jeismann about an incident where a comrade of his was shot down and killed over Crailsheim airfield by a Mosquito at night in late September early October 1944.The name of the pilot who was killed was not given, but he says the Mosquito was shot down by flak and the two “Englishmen” were made POW. I believe the crew of the Mosquito were F/O S.K.Wooley and F/O W.A.Hastie of 418 Sqn who were lost on a “Flower” mission to
Kitzingen/Wurzburg,Germany on the 2nd of October 1944.
These were the only Mosquito crew taken POW that fit the area and possibly the date late September early October 1944.
So my questions are:-
What was the name of the German pilot killed flying the Arado 96 ?
What Lufwaffe unit did he come from ?
Where did the 418 Sqn Mosse come down ?

Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
David

Hi:

I can confirm that is was F/O Wooley and his navigator F/O Hastie with 418 Sqn. that did not return from a Flower to Kitzingen and Wurzburg on the date identified in your post. There are idenified as not returning in the 418 ORB. They were flying TH-O, PZ342. I can't state the exact location where the Mossquito was lost as this isn't elaborated upon in the ORB.

I hope you find the 418 information helpful.

Hi

The Arado was possibly from the Flugzeugführerschule FFS A 43 in Crailsheim, i have no losses after August 1944 (GQM-Lists).
