Squadron Leader M.W.B Knight

Hello all,

I am trying to find out about this officer's postings after leaving 485 in November 1941. I know that he ended up a Group Captain by the War's end but am in the dark as to what he did after 485. I have an idea that it may have been administrative postings.

Anybody shed some light on this?

Tim.

Still hoping someone can help with this.

As I mention in the post above I have a lot of info of Knight's time commanding 485, but before and after this very little. I know he arrived in the UK from NZ in 1935 and ended up being an instructor before the War. He was also apparently Cobber Kain's instructor.

Can anyone add anything to his "before and after" 485 period?

Any help much appreciated.

Tim.

Hello Tim,

In book No.485 (N.Z.) Squadron 1941-1945 by Paul Sortehaug & Phil Listemann one page is devoted to the career of Marcus William Bower Knight.

Cheers
Peter

Ah that's the new book on 485, which I have been planning to pick up. I only have Well's book on 485 from 1985.

Looks like I might have to splash out on it.

I can recommend the book it complement Well´s book because it includes much statistics and list of pilots. Strangely the list of total claims for destroyed enemy aircraft has differences compared to Well´s book.

If you don´t want to buy the book contact me by mail. I can help you with the information about Knight.

Peter
