USAAF Bomber loss of November 19, 1944
Got these parts from a crashplace in Lower Austria. Asked two eyewitnesses about it. One told me that 7-9 parcutes were seen. The other one had the exact date and time of the crash: Sunday, 19.11.1944, about 13:30 o'clock (01:30 p.m.).
Does anyone have details, maybe pictures about this crash/plane? What was the mission of this plane? Names of crew, MACR, etc.? From where is this part with the letters? I'm just starting my reseach. Anyone an idea about the last two pictures? Any help is greatly apprechiated. Thanks! Kurtl |

8 AF flew no bombing missions 19 Nov 1944; some leaflet-dropping missions were flown that night over France, Belgium, and Holland, with no losses in any event. Probably 15 AF up from Italy.

15th AF lost two B-24s on Nov 19.
MACR 9939, B-24J, 42-51708, 459th BG, Italy MACR 9937, B-24H, 42-95287, 461st BG, 766th BS, Austria. Could be either one, although the latter seems more likely. I do not have copies of either MACR. Enjoy! Frank. |

According to the 461st BG website, 42-95287 crashed near "Duboj" during a raid on Vosendorf Oil Refinery, Vienna, Austria.
The webiste "Air War over Yugoslavia" has it as crashing at Doboj, Yugoslavia. |
