Cowes Air raid on 4/5.V.1942
Hello all,
I'm looking for the following informations regarding German air raid over town of Cowes on the night of May 4/5th, 1942: - What was the target of the bombers? - How many planes took part in this mission and from what units? - How many of the bombers were lost and due to what causes (if known)? - What was the estimated result of the air raid (from the German point of view)? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Best regards from Warsaw, Andrzej |

There is a page on this attack in Balke's book on KG 2 which says 107 ac were involved and a Do 217 of 9/KG 2 lost to 604 Sqn. Targets were the 4 Saunders Roe locations, 3 J Samuel White & Co Ltd locations and the Saro Laminated Wood Company

Gruppe) was shot down by British fighters from 604 Sqn (do you know what kind of fighters those were?! Who was the pilot credited with the kill?!) - Targets were located in Saunders Roe (4 of them), J Samuel White & Co Ltd (3 of them) and the Saro Laminated Wood Company Right?! |
