Hi,

Does anybody know in which unit(s) was this B-17G-40-VE, 42-97963 ?

My source shows it wasn't assigned to any particular unit. It was assigned to the 8th AF July 5 1944, returned to the US on Oct 19 1945 to 1103 Base Unit at Morrison and salvaged at Walnut Ridge Dec 5 1945.
