This has been posted on another site...any ideas ? Could be JU88 or 87

I was wondering if anyone on the forum has detailed German aircraft losses for August 15, 1940? I have a small piece from a Junkers aircraft, part of a radio cover, which has the following scratched into it:

PART OF RADIO COVER OFF GERMAN JUNKER, DOWN ON THURS 15 AUG 1940, OUTWOOD SURREY ENGLAND

This piece was brought back by a Canadian serviceman (RCASC) and was found amongst his momemtos.

It would be interesting to know if this piece might be researched??

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Hello Jon,

What you have there is from the Messerschmitt Bf110C-6 (S9+TH) of 1./ErpGr210 that crashed at Broadbridge Farm, Smallfield, Horley at 7.10 p.m. on August 15, 1940. Lt Erich BEUDEL and Obergefr Otto Jordan both killed. Shot down by F/Lt S. D. P. Connors and Sgt T. Y. Wallace of No. 111 Squadron following an attack on Croydon airfield. See Blitz Then & Now Vol.1 p198 and Zerstorer p123 for details. I have several photos if you need them.

Hi Peter,

I just checked my PM's and didn't find the message from you. Could you post some pictures from which this supposed 'cover' came from? Is this piece actually from a radio cover and if so do pictures exist of where on the aircraft the radio cover is located and what the full sized piece (mine has been cut down) looks like?
