Neanderthal Insignia for I./KG3 or 3./KG3?
 

Hello,

Today on eBay a photo album sold that was purported to have belonged to a ground crewman in 3./KG3. This album contained hand colored artwork of two versions of a "Neanderthal" insignia, seemingly associated with either I./KG3 or 3./KG3. <http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280097353998&indexURL= 0&photoDisplayType=2#ebayphotohosting>.

This insignia is not in the standard references on the subject, but has been previously identified in a published photo as belonging to Erg. IV./KG3, the training group of KG3. This photo album would seem to indicate that this identification is wrong. Does anyone have any definitive info that would accurately identity this insignia, and, perhaps, when it first started being used? Is it a Gruppe or a Staffel badge?

I have it as being the IV Gruppe badge-see my Do 17 book
