The Bf109 flown from Romania to Turkey
Gentlemen,
According to Dugan & Stewart's book Ploesti, a Bf109 landed at Ankara Airport in Turkey on 12 June 1942 after the Halpro Raid. It was stated that the Bf109 followed two B-24s all the way from Romania and landed at Ankara with almost no gas. I am not sure if this incident did happen or not. The distance between Romania and Ankara is too much and I am not sure if it is possible for a Bf109 to take it. However, if this is true, I would like to know the details about this Bf109, especially the name of the pilot and his unit. Regards. |
