At 1445 near Domfort pilots of the 387th FS, 365 FG, claimed a shared 109.
At 1430 near St. Lo, Capt. Emmer, Lts. Dean, Bickel, Reynolds, Chapman and Overfield of the 353rd FS, 354th FG, shared a 109. |

Hello John,
are you sure about the date? According to "Stars and Bars" by Frank Olynyk these 353rd FS claims were actually made on 26th July 1944, not 29th. Tthe location of the combat is given as St Sever Forest. Ota |

Hello----
This reply to an old thread, just to confirm info. from John. Capt. Wallace N. Emmer is credited with 2.5 a/c on 26 July 44, types of a/c not specified. With 6 pilots sharing the a/c described by John, then Capt. Emmer must have shared another to reach the 2.5 mark. Tripp |
Re: USAAF claims on 29 July 1944 over France
Hello Pierre,
according to the excellent book "USAAF (European Theater) Credits for the Destruction of Enemy Aircraft in Air-To-Air Combat" by Frank Olynyk, the only USAAF claims in France that day are: 1 Me-109 dam. Savray area (Gavray?) 19:00 by Lt/Col. Leo C. Moon 404FG 2 FW-190 dam. Savray area (Gavray?) 19:05 by 2/Lt. John W. Wainwright 508FS-404FG Probably US pilots were facing the FW-190s of the I and II JG1, which claimed 2 P-47 at Villedieu-Les-Poeles at 19:08. Cheers Marco |
