Validity of caption, Njst Norwegen Ju-88G-1 with black undersides.

I just got Manfred Griehl's Star of the Luftwaffe. One picture that caught my eye was this nightfighter with what appears to have black underfuselage and port wing. The caption says this is an '88 from Nachtjagdstaffel Norwegen.
Seems like it's a G-1, those are BMW engines, aren't they? Can anyone confirm the unit?

Ju88G-1 'D9+Nl', WNr.712190, 3.NJG7 -

landed at Bulltofta, Sweden, on 6th Oct. 1944

Hope this helps

Thanks for the information, Piero. So Griehl is wrong in this one too.
One question though: Did the Swedes test this aircraft later on? The surroundings are rather snowy and I really don't think there would be any snow at Bulltofta as early as October.
What is the source of your information?

if you send me your e-mail in the p.m., I'll send you two scans related to the a/c. In one of these scans is an image without snow.

Re: Validity of caption, Njst Norwegen Ju-88G-1 with black undersides.

No problem, Piero. I have the Luftwaffe in Sweden book, only not here right now, so I couldn't check. I have no problems accepting that it's not a Njst Norwegen plane (just a little disappointed :)) and was just interested to know the source since Griehl managed to mis-caption the picture.
Thanks for the clarification. The search for good Ju88G-1 pictures from Njst Norwegen continues. So far I've only seen B4+DA.

Atckyrre...

If you're looking for Nachtjagdstaffel Norwegen machines, there's a photo in Barry Rosch's Luftwaffe Codes, Markings & Units 1939-45 on page 20 of Ju88G-6 W.Nr 621197 coded B4+FA, which landed in Germany at Mannheim/Standhofen on 8 May, 1945. Admittedly, the nose and starboard wing are 'clipped' from the photo, but good fuselage and tailplane detail.

Cheers.
Actually I have a few pictures of B4+FA and I suspect some are scans from this book. While the G-6 is very interesting as well I'm at the moment most interested in the G-1's, simply because I'm gathering information for the Hasegawa Ju88G-1 that I'd love to finish as a "Norwegian" machine. I have one picture of B4+DA but I have yet to see any pics of the second G-1 on strength with NjSt Norwegen.
Thanks for participating,

Kyrre

Regarding the Picture,

I today got the new book by Bo Widfeldt "Tyska Nödlandare 1939-1945". This exelent book (in Swedish) identifyes the picture to be taken 03-feb-45 when the JU88 G-1 D9+NL was flewn back to Kastrup for the return of the aircraft.

Re: Validity of caption, Njst Norwegen Ju-88G-1 with black undersides.

Ah right, that explains the snow then. Oh well, that leaves me with one G-1 unaccounted for. Would have been nice doing that machine with black undersides I must say.
I have that book by Widfeldt in English but I can't find it right now. The one picture in "Nødlanding" shows the plane from the side, without any snow. But the black undersides are clearly shown.
