He-111 wreck query...
sorry if this has been discussed already, the picture below first appeared in a German model magazine in the 1980s, said to be at Paris Le Bourget IIRC. The callsign COULD be 4C + GT (hard to see on the picture). Did anything come to light about the wreck in the meantime (unit, code, serial, date, location of pic etc.)?
http://i13.tinypic.com/2mwgq5y.jpg Looks like there are P-47s and US trucks in the background. Any help would be highly appreciated! Best Regards Matthias Radu |

Hi,
Le Bourget airfield is surrounded by buildings. On the picture, the background is flat and empty... Von Alles |
Re: He-111 wreck query...
Matthias, that He 111 is also pictured on colour photo from almost the same angle. The Verbandkennzeichen is hard to be seen, the individual letter is C or G in yellow (horizontal stabilizer hides the detail) and the black letter is T.
On that picture there is also a ambulance (photo taken immediately after crash landing?) and Americans. That photo was published on the cover of Jet & Prop Foto Archiv Band 6, Spezial Ausgabe - Mai 45 die Luftwaffe kapituliert please contact me offboard, if I can help you more with that. cheers Kuba |
