searching for more info about a specific member of JG 53 ''pik as''

Hello,

I got on this site while trying to get more info about a member of the JG 53 on the wehrmacht-awards forums. There they advised me to ask here, so here I am.
I am trying to find more info about Erich Schoenfeld, an oberwerksleiter in the JG 53. I already looked him up in the book ''geschichte des jagdgeschwaders 53'' by Jochen Prien (who is supposedly also a member on this site??) In the German version there was no reference to this name, but in the English version by schiffer there was on page 390 a rather fat officer (?) Erich Schoënfeld, but he isn't the one I am looking for, for sure. Here is all the info I have about ''mine'' Erich. He was a oberfeldwebel, somewhere in the JG 53. He is a thin guy, who is born around 1920 and he was an oberwerkleiter. He joined the JG 53 already around 1936/1937 and stayed there untill the end of the war. After the war he moved to Canada.
What I try to find out is, in which staffel he was, where he has been based and even a way to find a photo of him. (and off course all other info that can be tracked of him)
I really hope that you guys know any ways of finding out more info about him..

with friendly regards,
Rémy

Hi Rémy:

After the war, you indicated Erich Schoenfeld immigrated to Canada. Do you have any information as to the location (city and province). Based on his age, (approx. 87 years old), he is probably dead; however, there might be surviving relatives that could be contacted. This could be done by a Search Engine. It might sound like a long shot, but my wife's girlfriend in England was able to locate my wife after a 20+ year separation. It took her 4 months, but with a name like BROWN and the fact that we emigrated from Canada to the USA shows what a little determination can do. Good luck
