Me 410 loss 6-8-1944

Included in a JG 3 loss list is Me 410 A-3 3U+ZL w.n. 170148 of ZG 26 shot down at Freienwalde. It is shown as part of the Tagfuhlungshalter- Schwarm does this mean it acted as a Formation Leader for JG 3 ? Both the crew Ff FjFw. Gunter Klaus and Bf Gefr. Otto Toder (or Todker) are shown as killed with a note 'on paracute shot' does anyone know who shot them down,

Tagfühlunshalter means that they stayed in contact, shadowed, a enemy formation during the day to allow the fighters to refuel and rejoin without loosing the location of the formation. They basically acted as an airborne Fliegerführer.

Does your date mean June or August?

Hi,
Brian you mean that this Me 410 was shot down in the are of Bad Freienwalde? I've found a place of Me 410 crash in the area of Chojna (before the 1945 Konigsberg N/M) were ZG 26 was situated. Is it possible that it has crashed n this area?
Best reagrds

Re: Me 410 loss 6-8-1944

Hi, the location given is just 'Freienwalde' which from the answers I assume would be Bad Freienwalde. Other losses for I/JG 3 for whom the 410 may have been working with were at Freyensen, Hamersen, Niendorf and Burglipperen I do not know if these were the same area,
