Simba -Lion Cub Mascot of JG3?
 

Anyone know anything about Simba, the lion cub mascot of Stab/JG3 circa 1940. How was the cub acquired -fate, etc?
Franz von Werra seemed particularly fond of the cub.

I know few images with this Lion and maybe it was sent in Germany in the ZOO.

Correct, Rob. Apparently Simba was popular with the officers of the Geschwader, including my uncle.

Great find of Simba and Franz von Werra (21) the only German pilot to escape from the Americas (Canada) and make it back to Germany only to die in a flying accident.
