My name is Meier
 

The story of Göring entering a shelter in April 1945 and saying : "Let me introduce myself, my name is Meier" had been told many times. Wonder if the first to tell this story was not Cajus Bekker.

Is it true or is it another urban legend?

It's what I always thought, " la mariée est trop belle"
The whole problem is that the Luftwaffe has a big responsability in the defeat, for sure asking too much for its capacities, nd man try to find the ideal culprit, pointing on Göring the it's easier the goal was pretty large.
But the same now as many lwf-searchers trying to split the Lwf in one part the party in the other

The LW was the subject of too many political pressures and consequently took many bad strategical decisions.
For instance, the decision to give up the night intruder missions over England, leaving the RAF bombers take-off, assemble and then land without interference from Oct. 41 till the end of the war (apart from "Operation Gisela"), just because Hitler wanted the British bombers been shot down over Germany to prove his people that the LW was properly doing its job.

And shortage, the II.NJG2 was transfered because they need them in med. front

Not that badly. Compare the number of "kills" bagged by NJG 2 on the Med theatre and over England.
The transfer was the consequence of a pure political decision.
