Fliegerdeich Wilhelmshaven.

The Fliegerdeich in Wilhelmshaven was so called because of the seaplane base established there in WWI.
In WWII the Fliegerdeich airbase contained an apron, a hanger and a crane for loading/offloading and servicing ship-based aircraft. It was destroyed after the war and the site is now occupied by the large Helgolandhaus apartment block. The berth of the battleship Scharnhorst was located immediately to the east of the base.
To the west of the base were three barrack blocks, built in the 1930s and still extant. Locals say the barracks housed a Fliegerstaffel.
Does anyone know the identity of the unit or units occupying the base and the barracks, and does anyone know where these units exist within the LW order of battle. I thank you very much for any answers.

Re: Fliegerdeich Wilhelmshaven.

The Bordfliegerstaffel 1./196 had its home base in Wilhelmshaven throughout the war. However, the unit operated detachments in The Netherlands, France, Denmark and Norway at various times in addition to supply aircraft and crews to some of the battleships and cruisers of the Kriegsmarine.
