Civil registration of US military planes
Sorting part of my photo library, I came across a photograph of the Boeing B-299, progenitor of the B-17 breed. It wears both military markings and a civil registration: X-13372.
This is not uncommon, but what puzzles me is that "X". All previous civil registrations I have seen were in the "NX" range. Can someone shed some light? Thanks. Chris |

X - Experimental

Re: Civil registration of US military planes
"X" is not a civil registration agreed by OACI.
It's "experimental" only in military designations. |
