Hpt. Ernst Hinrichs - shot down 19th Jun '42
 

Please could anyone tell me the aircraft type and codes of the aircraft that Hinrichs was flying. He was with 2./K.G.51 I think, on the Eastern Front.

I have this loss recorded for 41, but nothing for 42 - in fact no 88s at all for 19-Jun-42.

Ju 88A-4, 3537, HINRICHS, Ltn. Ernst, , 2., KG 51, rot I, 9K+IK, , , 12-Sep-41, Reported lost, cause unknown. Crew returned safe., RK (for destroying flak raft in Crimea), Ostfront, Gen.Qu.6.Abt. (mfm #4)-Vol.6, , (Svindfavug), 100%, F

Hi All

Georg Brütting in his Das waren die deutschen Kampflieger-Asse states that Hinrichs was lost on June 19th, 1942 on an attack on Sevastopol and shot down by flak.

On the other hand he is not listed in Dierich's KG 51 book on that date, but that volume has recieved its own flak lately...

Hello,

Dierich book contains only personal loss list. If I understand correct, no personal losses occurs in this case ?

Not quite sure I follow you here

Bryan is trying to find out the loss details for Hinrichs on the 19.06.1942
Jim P says he cannot find any on that date and quote Hinrichs details on 12.09.1941

I am stating that Brütting confirms that Hinrichs was killed on 19.06.1942, but his loss is not reflected in Dierichs book. Now if Hinrichs was killed on the June 19th it would to me be classified as a personal loss, don't you agree?

On the other hand I have no proof that he really was killed on June 19th.
As always I am quoting secondary sources....

Hi all

many thanks for the information and your time and consideration. All I can add is that Hinrichs survived the war, and in fact, may be still alive. I have not seen his death noted on any site.
