part of a fighter - Belgium 01.09.1944

Hi,

I have this part of plane, that's the back of an armored seat. There's only one marking, a number 7166. Following my info, it maked a forced landing in Belgium on 31.08.1944 or 01.09.1944 ( more certain ) in Belgium in Enghien's area, 25 km southern Brussel. The pilot was safe.

I think it was a german fighter, may be victim of a friend fire ( no 100 % certain ). Could you identify the type of the plane with this part and may be the pilot ?

Thanks a lot.
Sincerly.

Thank you very much for the informations.
Some persons said it was a US fighter but I was not OK with this opinion.
Then, now it's certain that was a german FW190.
If somebody has a idea to identify the plane, for exemple with the number on the seat, that's welcome ...
Once more, thanks for your help.

Ytargsillou,
I would suggest you to verify all Luftwaffe losses on those days ( check www.jg300.de; JG 26, JG 1, JG 3, JG 4, JG 6 losses on that day. It is probable that the number you put there is part of the werknummer of the aircraft shot down. I do not have access to Luftwaffe ORBīs like so many here on the Forum, but there are several losses claims on sites ( not complete although ). I will try to have a look for you on what I do have. Please wait a few more days...It is indeed a very nice piece of collection! Keep it safe and well preserved. It would be nice for you to have all the backgrounds of this piece and the historry of the pilot as well.
Sincerely and friendly yours
Adriano Baumgartner
