Oblt Benno Weiss .2/KG(J)54 killed on a Me 262 A-2a
Hello to all.
I am seeking the CORRECT date and CIRCUNSTANCES of the death of Oblt Benno Weiss from .2/KG(J)54, killed aboard Me 262 A-2a, serial 110504, B3+FK near Baden/Fahrenbach. On the book "Me 262 Combat Diary" by Foreman and Harvey it is stated on page 105 that this pilot ( listed as a Leutnant ) was killed after chasing the PRU Spitfire of G/C Ogilvie, DSO, DFC - OC 34 PR Wing. However, on the page 329 ( Appendix II ) - we do have his loss ( as an Oberleutnant ) on the 10th December 1944. A crash near Fahrenbach during a high altitude interception flight. From what I have researched, G/C Ogilvie was sent on a North Sea recon. How is Fahrenbach distant from there? Is there any evidence of a combat? If yes, why Benno did not recorded his victory on R/T? ( It could have been heard by someone on the ground; ground controllers, isnīt it? ). Any help will be very welcomed Adriano |
Re: Oblt Benno Weiss .2/KG(J)54 killed on a Me 262 A-2a
PS: Just to confirm: G/C Ogilvie was lost on 11th December 1944 - so there is a difference of one day on the records put on the book of Mr Foreman and Harvey...What is the truth about Benno Weiss loss?
Glad and sorry for had forgiving to put the date of 11th December. Adriano |
