Winston Churchill - friendly fire 1942?
 

Hi guys

I have just noticed an internet reference to PM Churchill's aircraft being fired upon by London AA guns sometime in 1942, when the great man was returning from a trip to Washington.

I plead ignorance! Can anyone enlighten me, please?

I don't think this happened, do you? According to my gen, Winston returned from Washington in a flyingboat and landed at Plymouth!

Brian,

It doesn't seem too likely. On his return from the trip to Washington in June 1942 his flying boat landed on the Clyde and he then took a train to London. All mentioned in his 'The Second World War Vol IV'.

I know of an incident with Winnie but in 1944 and this could hardly be called a friendly fire.

Hi Steve,

Just a thought because If I recall correctly he would have had to arrive in London at a different Railway Station.Depending on station of departure.
