Re: Lancaster ED317

I do not recommend the site you mention (Lost Bombers) for the following reasons.

1. A great deal of this web site's material is practically word for word the same as Bill Chorley's Bomber command losses. (for some reason!) Numerous other sources are quoted without reference.

2. He does not state who he is, or name his sources.

3. When I wrote to this person, asking who he was and what his sources were. He did not reply. The same was true of Mr Chorley's attempts to contact him.

4. The only source he quotes is Middlebrook and everyone knows Middlebrook does not include information about individual losses, crash locations and night fighter claimants, in B.C. War diaries.

5. What kind of person is it who claims to have a degree in history yet does not state his sources, his name, or reply to enquiries for this information?

Try contacting Mr J W Sharp your self and see he if replies!

And some of the data Mr Sharp HAS added to Bill Chorley's excellent and well-researched information is just WRONG! Much recent discussion about this whole issue over on RAF Commands.
